Maple Event Group - Our Business Values

Once upon a time (aka in 1970) the Hawthorn Tea Gardens fatefully burnt down, leaving the opportunity open for partners Leon Jolson & David Walker to build Melbourne’s leading event venue. The name bestowed upon the stunning event venue was Leonda, a fusion of the names Leon and David.

Our story really begins back in 2006 when Leonda By The Yarra was sold by Spotless to a family business. The venue was renovated inside and out, modernising its facilities and bringing opportunities for amazing events to exciting new levels. Under the new management, the focus was to bring the WOW to Leonda By The Yarra, restoring its status as an iconic Melbourne destination.

Flash forward to 2013 and Fenix Events was bought from Masterchef judge Gary Mehigan. Previously a popular venue for fine dining, the emphasis on culinary experience was maintained while the spaces were revamped with a modern edge and minimalist aesthetic.

With a second venue to call part of the family, the Maple Event Group was born and the fun well and truly began! Today our Melbourne based, family owned event group has one clear goal – to consistently deliver exceptional experiences to our clients and their guests.

We are able to achieve this in both of our venues by creating a culture based on our MAPLE values, in particular our focus on: commitment and motivation to continually improve what we do; positivity and fun in the workplace; and respect and support for each other.

The BRW Best Places to Work Study has now recognised Maple Event Group in Australia’s Best 20 Places to Work (under 100 employees) for both 2014 and 2015. This significant achievement recognises us as a team that strives to create a workplace where people enjoy coming to work and truly love what they are doing.
